Deborah Hamon
"American Girl"
October 2 - November 3Opening Reception: Friday, October 5, 7 - 9 P.M.
domogallery is pleased to announce Deborah Hamon: American Girl as the next exhibition at domogallery at 447 Springfield Avenue, Summit, NJ. This will be the artist’s first show with domogallery.
Deborah Hamon’s images explore the construction of identity of girls and the intense emotions of this period of discovery. In her works, Hamon seeks to “ capture that moment when confidence and insecurity, whimsy and seriousness, innocence and knowledge can all exist.” She explores these themes using both painting and photography. Though the paintings exist as completed works, Hamon also uses Photoshop to place her painted figures within photographed environments. Hamon’s quirky yet subtle works reflect the artist’s own experiences but also those universal to the development of identity.
Deborah Hamon received her MFA from the University of California, Davis in 2002 and her BFA from the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California in 1990. She also received an affiliate artist studio award at the Headlands Center for the Arts in Sausalito, California from 2002 to 2004. She has had four solo exhibitions and participated in many group shows nationally.
Deborah Hamon: American Girl will be on view at domogallery, 447 Springfield Avenue, Summit, New Jersey 07901, 908-608-0079, October 2 through November 3, 2007. Hours: Tuesday through Friday 12-6 PM and Saturday 12-5 PM.
