In this exhibition British artist Chris Gollon has chosen to juxtapose his recent religious and secular works in an experiment to see if the one strengthens or weakens the other.
London-born British painter Chris Gollon is attracting increasing attention in the British press, and museums are purchasing his works. In 2004, his painting "Jesus Meets His Mother" was shown with works by Bill Viola, Craigie Aitchison, Tracey Emin and MaggiHambling in St. Paul´s Cathedral, London, in an exhibition entitled: "Presence: images of Christ for the Third Millennium". Chris Gollon has enjoyed four successful solo museum shows in the U.K., showed at the Chicago Art Fair, and also exhibited with Yoko Ono, David Bowie, Gavin Turk in "ROOT", a crossover exhibition of contemporary art and music originated by Thurston Moore of New York Band Sonic Youth, at the Chisenhale Gallery, London. In 2000, Chris Gollon accepted a major commission from the Church of England to paint 14 Stations of the Cross for a grade-one listed church in London designed in 1826 by Sir John Soane (architect of the Bank of England)
In 2001, the Victoria & Albert Museum, London, and the award-winning River & Rowing museum in Henley-on-Thames, co-purchased Chris Gollon´s triptych "Big Fish Eat Little Fish", which currently hangs in the letter´s collection with works by Dufy and Frink. In 2005, the Huddersfield Art Gallery (W. Yorkshire) purchased Gollon´s major work "Einstein & The Jealous Monk" which willhang in their permanent collection alongside Sir Jacob Epstein´s bust of Einstein, and works by Walter Sickert, L.S Lowry and Francis Bacon. Chris began painting Einstein as an icon of the 20th century in a Physics, London, soon approached him to help celebrate 2005 as the centenary of E=mc2
