Opposites Attract, detail
In my process, I use many layers of paint on wood panels; adding, subtracting, discovering forms and figurations, covering them; finding new ones; excavating.
From 1997 to August 2001 I lived in Rome, Italy, surrounded by its own layers of history which inspired me to keep digging, scratching, uncovering, restoring, always looking for what the light revealed and transformed. Now, in an uncertain world, I have returned to my origins. My paintings continue to offer me the opportunity to "excavate," but they are the emotional layers of my own history that are slowly explored and revealed.
